Publishment of 『Journal of Human Security Studies』Vol.10 No.2 Special Issue 2021

『Journal of Human Security Studies』Vol.10, No.2 (Special Issue 2021) has been published by the end of July. It was written as a work of a joint conference between the Japan Association for Human Security Studies (JAHSS) and the Japan Society for International Development (JASID) held on November 16-17, 2019 at Komaba Campus, the University of Tokyo.

The conference considered what kinds of integration supports were necessary and appropriate to realize a multicultural society in the future. It also looked into the issue of employment, as it realized the fact that educational opportunity on its own was insufficient in addressing the refugees/migrants’ needs. Questions to be asked may include: Where were refugees and migrants placed currently in the Japanese society, and how appropriate was it? What could and should be done in this regard? What was expected of various stakeholders, such as universities? How could we encourage a mindset and make a system of learning from refugees and migrants? Would innovation of new technology such as block chain brought about new approach for inclusive education for refugees and migrants as well as promotion of multicultural society?
