HSP Seminar: "Gacaca Court in Rwanda by Dr. Natsuki Katayama"
We will be welcoming Dr. Natsuki Katayama from Tsuru University of Arts and Sciences to discuss her newly published book, The Gacaca Courts in Rwanda: Dialogue on Reparations for Victims and Perpetrators of Genocide. Together with moderator Professor Ai Kihara-Hunt, we will delve into the Gacaca Courts—which adjudicated genocide at the local level—and explore the human dimensions of “crime and punishment”.
About Dr. Natsuki Katayama:
Lecturer, Department of Comparative Culture, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Tsuru University. Completed doctoral studies in the Human Security Programme, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo. Awarded a Ph.D. in 2023 (International Contribution). Doctoral thesis received the First High School Memorial Award. Awarded the 5th Joritsu Prize (University of Tokyo Academic Achievement Publication Grant) in 2024, leading to the publication of this book.
