Collaborating with culturally diverse people- Cultural Diversity Index Symposium promoting cultural diversity
Last year, the University of Tokyo, Tsukuba University, and Living in Peace, the certified nonprofit organization, conducted research on the challenges in employment for the second generation of immigrants and refugees in Japan, from the perspectives of both applicants and companies.
Based on the research findings, the Employment Subcommittee of Welcome Japan has developed Cultural Diversity Index, serving as a guideline for employment, retention, and internal and external communication. This index aims to assist both companies that currently employ people with diverse backgrounds and those that would like to do so. We’ll release the index at this Symposium and discuss how it will be used in practice.
