Announcement: Launch of International Training and Research Hub
The Center is very happy to announce the launch of International Law Training and Research Hub, directed by Dr. Ai Kihara-Hunt, Deputy Director of the Research Center for Sustainable Peace. The hub is a forum of network that serves to accommodate researchers and students who are interested in international law, in particular in the area of International Human Rights Law (IHRL), International Humanitarian Law (IHL), International Criminal Law (ICL), and Refugee Law.
There are two main activities. One part is training on IHRL, IHL, ICL and Refugee Law. The hub has trained student teams to compete in international law competitions, including for IHRL and IHL, and is now expanding to the area of ICL. Student teams represent the University of Tokyo, and various teams have so far won the first prize at IHL Role Play competitions (Asia Regional Round, after Japan round, now competing at the world level at Jean Pictet competition), IHL Moot Court competitions (Japan round, now competing at Asia Regional Round) in 2018 and 2019.
Another part is research. Members discuss topics of international law in the form of academic articles and blog posts, and put links to other published work. You are invited to have a look at the webpage, designed by a member of the hub, Mr. Paul Hwa Namkoong:
